How it's made
How it's made
I design and create all my suncatchers. I use the traditional method by cutting each piece of glass by hand. Then I grind the glass down with a diamond grinder and the edges are coated in copper foil tape.
Each pieces of glass is then soldered together and attached to either a chain or waxed cotton string for hanging.
As each piece is hand made there may be some slight variations in the piece you receive to the listing photos. I do try my best to accurately represent my work through the listing photos, but due to lighting and screen calibrations etc, there may also be variations in colours.
Care information
Care information
Before purchase your piece has been cleaned and protected with a wax polish.
Pieces finished with a copper patina may naturally dull over time due to oxidation.
Sometimes the solder or lead can naturally oxidise and leave a whitish substance on the surface of your glass. This can be gently wiped away with a soft dry rag.
I recommend re-polishing your glass to protect it from tarnishing once a year with a carnauba wax. This can be found in some furniture polishes or a car wax.
The solder contains a mixture of lead, due to this it is recommended to wash your hands after cleaning/ handling the product for extended periods of time.
